Kirsten Herbert

Dr Kirsten Herbert is a Consultant Haematologist at Cabrini and at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. She graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1998 with an MBBS and a Bachelor of Science (Medical). She completed physician training at St Vincent's and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, and is a member of the American, Australian and European Societies of Haematology and Oncology, and a member of the American Society for Bone Marrow Transplantation. Dr Herbert completed a PhD in the role of Novel Retinoids in Haematopoietic Stem Cell Mobilization in 2007. She served as Clinical Advisor for the Australian Stem Cell Centre, and continues her involvement in Stem Cells Australia with an interest in patient advocacy and public education particularly in the issues surrounding patients undertaking experimental and unproven therapies in Cellular Therapy. At Cabrini and Peter Mac, Dr Herbert has an ongoing role in the Clinical Trials program, both as author and Principal Investigator, as well as co-investigator on numerous trials of novel cancer treatments and collaborations with other study groups including Cancer Trials Australia. At Cabrini she pursues an active interest in non malignant haematology and Obstetric Haematology and is currently collecting data on patient experiences of rapid iron infusions in the Outpatient setting.
